About the reasoning of Ventspils Freeport Authority for the press statement on transhipped volumes

september 27, 2016 / News

““Ventspils nafta” terminals” (VNT) takes note of the reasoning issued by Ventspils Freeport Authority on 21 September 2016 as to making statements about VNT capabilities regarding transhipment volumes. However, VNT is rather surprised that Ventspils Freeport Authority refers to conditions more than 30 years ago as the basis for its statements.

One might recall that in the early 1980’s the amount of different products transhipped were limited to two, crude oil and diesel, whereas nowadays products are more diverse. More significant though, 30 years ago the operation of the terminal was not based on a free market economy. Hence such comparison is a rather primitive approach to explain today’s world based on long outdated conditions.

Instead of drawing conclusions from the past, VNT invites Ventspils Freeport Authority to focus its energy on today and the future by creating the conditions for prosperity of Ventspils business environment, including Vapour Recovery Unit project pursued by VNT, for the benefit of all – companies, city and the state.
