Ventspils nafta termināls: internship with added value

march 20, 2014 / News

Being the largest and the most technologically advanced crude oil and petroleum product transhipment company in the Baltic States, Ventspils nafta terminals (VNT) offers internship opportunities for students / young professionals in various fields across the company – technological operations, electrical and mechanical engineering, customs rules, human resources, health and safety, information technologies, and finance related fields.

In today’s world, matching acquired knowledge at universities with real experience within a business environment, has almost become essential for students.  Students are aware that successful preparation for their future career development also involves practical experience within active businesses.  As a company, VNT considers the work with students and young professionals a very good practice, “We have welcomed students already in previous years and appreciated the value added on both sides, and would like to take this further in the future,” states Managing Director of VNT, Lars Pantzlaff.

To allow students to familiarize themselves with VNT and its internship opportunities, the company attended the Career Day organized by Riga Technical University on 20 March 2014 for the first time. Visitors of the VNT booth used the opportunity to ask VNT representatives questions about the company and opportunities for students or young professionals experience some samples of different petroleum products and learn more about VNT by answering lottery questions. A lot of interest was expressed about laboratory services, power electrical engineering and customs-related areas, which gives VNT and all other employers a great insight in trends of education and career choices of young people.

“It is exciting for us to be here, as working with students and young professionals adds value for both sides. I still remember that I landed my first full time job during a career day event in 1997,” Lars Pantzlaff shares his experience. He adds “It is not about pipelines, tanks or pumps that make VNT such a force in the terminal business for over 50 years, it is the people within the company that make the difference.” VNT is looking forward to attract and welcome ambitious, curious and open self-starters that are eager to gain practical experience.
