VNT receives the European Mobility Week Award

september 25, 2017 / News

On 22 September ““Ventspils nafta” termināls” (VNT) received an award in the European Mobility Week Competition from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development, which involved participants from Latvian municipalities, companies and non-governmental organisations.

VNT has earned the award “Environmental-Friendly Mobility Promoting Organisation” owing to the set of activities taken to promote employees getting around by bicycle safely and comfortably both within the company’s territory and outside it. During the warm season VNT employees are actively moving around the company’s 100-hectare wide territory with special industrial bicycles. Every year, together with other Latvian and European organisations, VNT participates in the “Bike to Work” campaign and gives valuable prizes to the employees, if they arrive to work by bike on the day of the campaign. VNT has installed bicycle sheds and a self-service unit, where cyclists can adjust their seats or pump the tyres. The company also provided marked cycling lanes in the  territory for safe moving.

The European Mobility Week Competition is organised by SIA Prospero and the Ministry of Environmental and Regional Development within the “European Mobility Week 2017” initiative of the European Commission.
